This here is the MacBook Pro in the 13-inch size. Since this is the Pro version, we would recommend students check this out who are majoring in engineering, art, or any other creative field where you need to work with high-end applications frequently.
The 13-inch size is great for carrying to class. It features the Retina Display to provide clear and detailed images on screen while the True Tone technology takes care to provide the brightest colors.
Specification wise, you have the 8th Generation Quad-Core i5 Processor. Having four cores ensure a powerful laptop that does not lack in processing power no matter what task you decide to take on.
Storage space is 256 GB that creates an ultrafast device. When in college, 256 GB might not cut it at all times and you might end up requiring more space. For this, we suggest you look to external methods to keep the overall costs down since MacBooks can get pretty expensive when increasing the storage.
What we especially love is that this slim and lightweight laptopstill manages to hold two Thunderbolt 3 ports. You are going to need to transfer, print, and scan multiple files, and having these ports can really come in handy for those last-minute connections.
This MacBook has a 12-inch display, which makes it a bit smaller than the average 13-inch MacBook that we usually see. But the advantage is that this is good for studentswho are looking for something affordable or can be used on transport.
And not just that, it also has an impressive resolution, is paper-thin, and has an edge to edge glass for an improved and luxurious display.
It has the dual-core Intel M3-7Y32 Processor which has a clock speed of 1.2 GHz. While this might not seem like a lot, you have to remember that this is a MacBook, which means performance is going to be better than the average.
Moreover, this processor also has a turbo boost that can increase this speed up to 3 GHz when required.
For storage, you have the 256 GB flash memory storage. This gives you plenty of space for everyday classes and work. Not to mention, this design makes the laptop a lot lighter, while providing up to 9 times the speed of any traditional hard drive.
Memory on the other hand it is 8 GB which allows you to multitask for projects, classes, and even the extra entertainment that you want to receive from the laptop.
The laptop does not lack in the sound department either. It has stereo speakers built-in for a surround sound experience. Plus, there is an omnidirectional microphone which is great for videoconferencing.
This is the 13.3-inch MacBook Air. With a Quad-Core 10th Generation Intel Core i5 processing unit and, this laptop is a fine choice for college students who seek a lightweight and slim laptop that pushes a lot of power.
Of course, it features the Retina Display for a crisp and clear screen. Plus, the True Tone technology is there to adjust the white points of the display so that it can match the color temperature around you for the finest experience.
The display also extends to the edges which makes it easier to focus on the screen. And with the high resolution, you get over 4 million pixels on a single screen that creates superb images that exude realism.
Don't forget the magic keyboard and the Touch ID which completes the laptop, and makes it stand out from other brands in the market.
The processor is brilliant, seeing that it is from the latest generation. This definitely makes this particular laptop an investment for the future. Not to mention having four cores give it twice the power for double the performance, so you can have no complaints about its speed.
Battery life is what Apple likes to call the 'all-day' battery life which is 10 hours and 30 minutes of usage. As a student, you would definitely appreciate this long life since you do not always have to carry around a charger on campus.
Another point that we love about this is the sleek design that you get on the exterior which is made from 100% recycled aluminum. This makes it more than just a good laptop, but also means that it is the greenest out there.
This is the MacBook Air in 13-inch. You have the rich and stunning Retina display that holds out details and textures in the most vivid manner. Expect nothing less from having 4 million pixels on a single screen. And of course, you have the True Tone technology as well to further enhance this already great screen.
The processor is the 10th Generation Intel Core i3 which makes it a suitable kind for students who are just entering college. It is also a fine choice for students who need a good laptop overall for presentations, Microsoft Office, and working on projects.
Storage is 256 GB which might not seem enough for some, but as a laptop targeted towards light-handed users, 256GB is a lot of space to have on hand.
But with something as simple as storage, you don't really have to worry too much even if it ends up being less for you, since you can use cloud storage if and when needed.
Battery life is exceptional at 12 hours. This truly lives up to the 'all-day' title that Apple gives to its battery life. Rest assured, this will last you through back-to-back classes, whether it is physical or online, you don't have to move around with the charger in either case.
This MacBook Air is suitable for school students, or users are looking for something small and portable. We say this is suitable for school students, because of the specifications that it holds.
The display is an 11.6-inch screen with a 1366 x 768 Native resolution. Similar to all MacBooks out there, you will never be disappointed with the screen and its quality color.
Internally you have the dual-core Intel Core i5 processor. It has a 1.6 GHz of clock speed. But if you need more power you have the turbo boost that goes up to 2.7 GHz.
Storage space is 128 GB SSD while the memory is 4 GB RAM. These are typically not suited for a college student unless this happens to be the secondary device or you don't seek a lot of space. But for school students, these features are just right, and you don't need to go hunting for more in general.
Battery life might not be the 'all-day' battery life, but it is close to 9 hours. And besides all the regular laptop ports, this one also has a Thunderbolt port, which is truly great to have.
This is the first decision you have to make before buying a MacBook, to go with the Air or the Pro. More than what you personally like, this decision depends a lot on what you need.
The MacBook Air is catered more towards home users or light hand users, whereas the Pro is suitable for work environments which can take on more workload.
As a student, you need to decide based on your major, if it requires a lot of power if you work part-time elsewhere, and how that requires a laptop. These things need to be taken into account.
If you don't have a lot of workload, then the MacBook Air is completely fine. On the other hand, if you are nearing graduation and will start work soon, then you will be better off with a MacBook Pro since it will be an investment for the future.
The best Macs for students have to carry enough power to meet their working needs. For the average student, dual-core processors are sufficient, and for this, you should turn to the MacBook Air.
MacBook Air has also recently included quad-core processors, so you can check them out as well if you feel like you need more power for your projects.
Only if your work is something as complicated as 3-D modeling or designing, or any similar field of work that requires a lot more processing power than the average student user, then go with the MacBook Pro 16-inch models with a Hexa core processor.
Once you have these basic requirements straightened out, we suggest you look to the other points such as having at least a Core i5 processor, and one from the 8th generation or later.
As a student, you probably would be keen on having a good battery life since it can get you through back to back classes. In terms of battery life, the MacBook Air is superior to the MacBook Pro, but not by a lot. On the MacBook Air, you get 12 hours of usage.
The MacBook Pro on the other hand gives you 10 hours. So the difference is not astronomical and since we do know that the MacBook Pro has more power, so two hours is really not a lot to give up.
So it depends on what you study, if you need more power, for say running sophisticated software, then losing two hours wouldn't be much of a difference. If not, and you just need all the basics, a MacBook Air would be suitable.
If you require a lot of storage space, you will want to check out the MacBook Pro 16-inch line. Here, the storage can go up to 8 TB. This would be insanely expensive for a student; you can of course check out the low storages comparatively as per your budget.
There are also build to order options that you can check out. Otherwise, if you do not want to overspend on this one feature, then you can always go with a basic 128 or 256 GB SSD storage and use a separate hard drive or cloud storage services for the files.
This will certainly reduce pressure on the local storage while bringing down the costs as well.
